First Nokia Mobile Entrepreneur Awards

Nokia staged the first ever Nokia Mobile Entrepreneur Awards last May 13, 2008 , an award developed to recognize small entrepreneurs who use mobile technology like SMS, MMS and bluetooth in their business. Working together with the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship, better known as Go Negosyo, the Nokia Mobile Entrepreneur Awards aims to encourage business-minded Filipinos to use mobile technology as their primary tool in their enterprise ventures.

Mobile communications has been taken to a higher level by helping out emerging markets to eliminate poverty. Since Filipinos are already known to max out the use of their mobile phones, then it's a good idea to use this technology to get rich - I mean - upgrade their lives. I know of several people below the poverty line (like my manicurista) who uses her mobile phone 24/7. This isn't just a hobby anymore, people. It can make you rich! LOL!

So, that night, Mr. Alvin Tan of Technominds bagged the first prize, followed by Oliver Kuy of Kuy Digital. Other finalists are Mary Grace Pauline S. Llamas of Asian Link Bath and Body Essentials, Francis Anthony Zapanta of Netland Cellcard Station and Cellphone Repair Center, Dennis T. Camus Autozone Paint and Bodyworks, and Paulo M. Tibig Vintel Logistics, Inc.

Okay, Nokia, I'm impressed. Not just that, they also got David Celdran to host the event. What a happy day! Of course, the inner fan girl in me did not miss a photo-op opportunity with the Battle of the Brains host.

I can die now. I love you, Nokia.
