Trip to Pundakit, Anawangin and Capones (itinerary)

Pundakit Beach

Pundakit, Zambales is the jump-off point to a lot of islands like Anawangin, Capones and Camara Islands. This the edited post about our Zambales itinerary (I made one for my friendswho keep disturbing me on YM a few days after the trip).

Itinerary to Anawangin and Capones after the jump.

Saturday AM

0600 Departure from Manila (Pasay Terminal to Olongapo). You can also take the Sampaloc and the Cubao terminal. We missed the bus to Iba, Zambales so we had to take the Olongapo bus. Taking the Olongapo bus means you have to take another jeep or bus to San Antonio - that's where Pundakit is. A ride to Iba usually costs around 300+PHP. A ride to Olongopo costs 220+PHP.

There's usually a 4-hour interval before the next bus ride, so plan ahead! The bus usually leaves at around 5 AM, the next ride is at 10 AM. I suggest you take the earlier trip. You can check out Victory Liner's website to check the bus schedules before you plan your trip

1100 Arrival (Olongapo city)

1130 Departure (to Pundakit, San Antonio). Don't ask me how we got there. We were supposed to check in at Cottage Country Resort, but it was too far away from Pundakit. It was like two towns away, so we decided to take a shot at getting a room at Pundakit. I called Nora's, Megan's, Punta de Uian and Wild Rose Beach in some nights before and they were all booked.

1300: Arrival (Pundakit). We were able to rent a cottage with just a table in some unnamed resort for 1500PHP.
When we came back after island hopping, we transfered to another cottage with a single bed, an electric fan and a very prissy porch for an additional 200 PHP. You have to take a tricycle to take you inside the resort since it's a bit far from the main road. But, it's just one *tambling* away from the beach.

1330 Lunch. There's a carindera on the main road. Cold water in a medium-sized bottle costs P26 and one gallon costs P40. Bring your own water and cooler if you don't wanna spend too much.

1400 Departure to Anawangin. We paid 1800PHP for a tour of three islands, it's a total rip off. You're supposed to pay about P600 for one boat per island. You can ask the locals where to get a boat so you won't get ripped off. They also have a boat station near our resort. You can also text our boatman at 09184271543 if you're too lazy to ask around. We spent about 3 hours in Anawangin.

They have a store that sells halo-halo and mais con hielo. They don't taste like halo-halo or mais con hielo. I think they put in sand. :/ )

1700 Departure to Capones. Bad idea. We had to hike for 30 minutes to get to the light house, which we didn't reach because it was too dark already. FAIL! So, we just took lots of photos and when we got to the boat, we found out that our boatman went out to look for us.

Stranded at Capones

So, we stayed there until 7 PM. :/ So, no Camara island for us. Next time, go to Capones first.
